The decision to embark on the journey of psychotherapy is often initiated by a sense that something needs to shift in our lives. You may be experiencing some form of psychological or emotional difficulties, you may face challenges in relationships, or you may be at a crossroads or time of transition. However, while the process may begin with unwinding these inner knots, the psychotherapeutic endeavour serves to illuminate your unique path forward.
It is a space to connect with what really matters, and be supported to explore the life challenges you want to address. This process of inquiry helps to develop mental insight and emotional clarity so that you experience a more meaningful relationship with yourself and others.
What's most important in the process of psychotherapy is that both of us show up as authentically as possible. The famous American therapist, Irvin Yalom, tells us that "Therapy should not be theory-driven, but relationship-driven", and so while I draw on various theoretical frameworks, my main focus is to establish a secure therapeutic relationship in which you feel free to explore your inner world. I know it can feel daunting to consider looking within, so remember that the process will always be at your own pace.
My approach is collaborative and can be summarised as a commitment to compassionate curiosity. I offer a grounded and warm presence to accompany you on your journey inward, and at times I may challenge the stories and beliefs you hold about yourself when they appear not to serve your wellbeing and growth. I will support you to understand how past experiences impact your present life so that this insight can guide your shift into a life of authentic presence.

Theoretical Orientation
My work is Integrative and is informed by Person-Centred, Somatic, Mindfulness-Based, and Relational Psychotherapy. Let's unpack that jargon so that you know what it means for you.
Person-Centred
My experience of the person-centred approach is based in a deep trust that the human spirit has an innate impulse towards healing. So many of us hold a belief that there is something wrong with us, or that we are broken, but through self-inquiry, we can reconnect with a deep sense of wellbeing that is our birthright. Therapy is the process of coming home to your authentic self, and I know and trust you have everything you need to carry you there! I will work collaboratively with you, and support you to listen to your inner compass.
Integrative
The nature of integration goes beyond combining different approaches, for me it most resonates to refer to this process as "returning to wholeness". Due to various experiences in our life, there are aspects of our personality / self that we push away or disown. Working integratively supports us to develop a coherent sense of self so that we can respond to life with flexibility and gain perspective on our experience. Every therapeutic journey is unique, and my work shines when I creatively work with you, using a spontaneous synthesis of approaches that are tailored to your individual needs. While my work is informed by scientific research and theory, I will always relate with you as a unique human being and not try to fit you into a theoretical jigsaw puzzle.
Relational
My main focus in therapy is to support you to relate with yourself more deeply. Most of our wounds have been experienced in relationship to others, and so it is through healthy relating that we heal. My work is strongly informed by Attachment Theory, which explores how early childhood experiences create blueprints for how we relate with others and the world around us. In our sessions, I will listen deeply to you, and not only to your words but also the space between them as that is often where we can hear what is really being said. There is extensive research that states it is the depth and safety of the therapeutic relationship that will provide the springboard necessary for healing and transformation to occur. "It's the relationship that heals" - Irvin Yalom
Somatic
My approach is trauma-informed and is grounded in an understanding of the mind-body connection and neuroscience. Working somatically means that we pay close attention to the body's signals as a language to be understood. You may have heard that "the body keeps the score", which means that our body often holds unprocessed emotional wounds. Because emotions are experienced in the body, when we learn to attend to these physical (somatic) sensations, we begin to understand how our body is speaking to us and can restore a sense of calm, clarity and balance. Somatic work supports both expanding our capacity to feel and to regulate and understand our emotions.
Mindfulness
Contemporary neuroscience is now catching up and validating what was discovered 2,500 years ago through Buddhist psychology and philosophy. Mindfulness teaches us to become aware of our experience, instead of being trapped or carried away by challenging thoughts and feelings. Through integrating mindfulness practice, our work together will support you to live with deeper presence and gain perspective and insight on how you think, feel, and behave.
Professional Commitment
While I work in a relaxed manner, I treat my profession with the utmost reverence. My commitment to supporting you is reflected through my professional and personal development, and I engage in a minimum of 14 hours per month between personal therapy, group work, and supervision. I abide by the Ethical Framework of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, of which I am a trainee member.
Fees
I offer 50-minute sessions online, and my practice operates on a sliding scale, between €30 - €40.
The upper side of the scale falls considerably below the average price of therapy in Ireland. This does not reflect the quality of my work, but rather acknowledges the fact that while I have completed the compassionate inquiry professional training, I am still in training for my MSc program. The lower end of the scale is intended for students and lower-income individuals. The session rate is discussed and agreed upon together in the first session.
I also have a limited number of (mainly in-person) slots available with a further reduced rate as part of my clinical hours in my masters program. Please reach out if you would like to attend but that finances are currently a barrier.
